Doing it Playa Del Carmen style!

This Marchesa Notte Stardust High Low Gown was a total showstopper at the wedding I attended. If you're looking for a magical dress for a special occasion - THIS IS IT!

Y’all. I am going to be completely candid with you right now; I have traveled quite a bit the past few years and I have seen some truly breathtaking locations & countries. However, after this trip, I have found my new favorite destination! Say hello to the beautiful & charming Playa Del Carmen!

WHERE I STAYED

Once we touched down in Cancun, Mexico we took a 45-minute drive from the airport to 5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen. Our hotel was settled right in between the action-packed strip that makes up Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue) and nestled up right against the Caribbean Sea. One word: heaven.

Our car dropped us off at 5th Avenue & Calle 8 Nte. It was so much fun feeling the excitement of the city as we walked down the cobblestone streets and ran up to The sensational Carmen Hotel.

Now, of course, Playa Del Carmen is a genuinely gorgeous destination, but something that made our stay so spectacular was the service and people. Boy is that Playa Del Carmen charm on point!

Upon showing up to The Carmen Hotel, we were greeted warmly by the fantastic Jose. He helped us throughout our entire trip and showed us to our room. And may I just say, the room was OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Waking up to the sound of the waves right outside of our window was a true treasure. The weather in Playa Del Carmen in February is also absolute perfection. I would highly recommend going during that time!

Now let’s get to the good stuff.

THE FOOD

If y’all know me, I am quite the foodie and am always on the search for the best spots wherever I travel! Let me tell you what I found in Playa Del Carmen:

Sonora Grill off of 5th Ave - This was a spectacular spot to enjoy a delightful 5-Star meal. The presentation, the service & the food was DELISH. They even ended our meal with ice-cream cones! You better believe we cheered with our cones.

Mi Pueblo Cocina Mexicana -When Freddie & I first arrived in Playa Del Carmen we were utterly starving and anxious to see 5th Avenue. We dropped off our bags and headed to… you guessed it; Mi Pueblo Cocina Mexicana! The tacos are authentic and mouthwatering. This spot was the perfect way to begin our trip to Mexico.

Deck 5 - Skybar at The Carmen Hotel - I loved this trendy & fun rooftop pool and bar. The music was epic; the food was tasty & the drinks were solid. The fried calamari was my absolute favorite. I think I ordered this three times throughout the trip. Overlooking the ocean with the sun glistening on my face while enjoying a fabulous meal was nothing short of perfect.

WHAT TO DO

Let's be real - Mexico knows how to have a good time! Between the shopping, bars, beaches & dancing - you are in for a treat.

5th Avenue aka Quinta Avenida - As you have heard by now, a lot of our time was on 5th Avenue. The shopping is fabulous as there are many charming stores with authentic treasures! I spent a lot of time exploring these fascinating streets.

Catch Playa Del Carmen Rooftop Bar at the top of the Thompson Hotel -  The evening before the wedding we hit Catch to meet up with the bride + groom & co. This place is FUN. The music, the drinks & the ambiance were totally on point. I highly recommend this spot!

The beaches -  The beaches of Playa Del Carmen are beyond breathtaking. The turquoise waters and white sands are a delight to get lost in. Whether you lounge on the beach, enjoy a restaurant oceanside, or venture out for fun in the sun water sports - taking in the beaches of Playa Del Carmen is a MUST.
